Gilby explains that
he still hangs out with Slash. Occasionally the pair visit a
blues bar in L.A. for a spot of "jamming". So did
he enjoy the Snakepit tour?
"Yes I did. Slash is my friend. He's a good friend as well
as a great musician. I thought it was cool the way we got to
do that project together away from Guns and do something that
we really believed in."
How did the audience respond to him performing his solo material
during the Snakepit set?
"I thought I got a pretty good response. I didn’t
know what to expect but I think everybody responded fine."
Are there any plans for a second Snakepit album?
"I don’t know if here are any plans, but I know everybody
wants to do one. Slash really wants to do one and now he’s
not a part of Guns any more. I think he needs to be a part of
something. I mean he’s been doing this Blues Band thing
in the States and I know he wants to do another Snakepit record."
Does Gilby follow the British music scene at all?
"I follow the British music scene more than I follow the
US music scene. I love Oasis, Supergrass. I really enjoyed the
first Suede record, although I don't know if I like the last
few records. I have a tendency to follow Radiohead. I haven't
heard their latest one, but those first two records were phenomenal."
Gilby also likes to cover British bands on his records.
"Like I told you. I like British bands more than I like
American bands. When I grew up and I was getting into music,
there was the Beatles, The Stones, David Bowie, Marc Bolan,
Slade and The Sweet....." >> |
