| The
Whip have been on the tour with The Sunshine Underground now
for going on two days. Bruce is currently still on his way
to Northampton, deciding apparently to make full use of the
good weather and have a late picnic somewhere or other. Therefore
Craig Wellington, lead singer of the Sunshine Underground
is sitting in for Bruce, as you do.
Earlier on Little Fi and Nathan Sudders were providing tips
to Craig on improving riders, apparently Dandelion and Burdock
is the way to go. Later on in the room Craig, sitting furthest
back against the far wall, is returning the favour by offering
tips for their forthcoming travels to Japan and between us
both we inform The Whip of the possibilities of getting a
whole change of clothes through vending machines. Apparently
it could have come in good use on a recent trip to France
as Danny explains.
“We were stranded there for four days,” he explains.
“It’s a nice place to be stuck if you’ve
got some money,” adds the band’s bassist Nathan
smiling.
“We went there to play a gig but there was a problem
with Eurostar and we ended up being stranded,” continues
Danny. “Mind you,” he adds. “We did have
a nice beef fondue while we were there.”
Suddenly the topic of conversation turns to finer points of
fondues French and Japanese style. The words ‘amazing’
and ‘boiling hot cauldron’ are uttered before
Craig jokingly speaks on behalf of The Whip. “It was
an idea I brought to the band when I came back from Japan.”
The band wasn’t formed under any unusual methods. The
final line up created under friendships, recommendations and
former band colleagues. Bruce and Danny themselves were from
the highly underrated Nylon Pylon. In fact during the Whip’s
set they play one of the band’s popular songs ‘Sister
Siam’. >> |
