| I thank the
band for putting 'Great DJ' as a limited time download on
Myspace.
"After eight hours we were told to take it down by the
label," laughs Katie.
They didn't relent, well not straight away. Though this wasn't
just another example of confirmation that the band had been
given control. They recorded a new track and released it on
an NME CD much to the annoyance of the label. With the mood
lightened it’s time to talk about the hat that Katie
is always wearing.
"I know, I've worn it for every gig going," Katie
says smiling. "It's like some sort of comfort hat and
last night I pulled it off half way through the gig and it
felt fine so it might come off half way through if I get too
hot."
How comfortable would Katie be about loosing it?
"I've nearly lost it a few times and I've freaked out.
I don't know why. It's not even a particularly good hat. It's
from Asda but they don't sell it anymore. It's like a year
old. It's slowly having it's day. It's just a bit knackered.
It's been stood on a few times. It was a big step for me last
night to part with it. I thought I'd feel naked without it
but I didn't."
Katie informs me that the band hopes to be able to tour "pretty
much everywhere that has a radio station". However with
things seemingly going very well with high amounts of demands
do they fear the possibility that they might burn out?
"Maybe," begins Katie. "But then we'll just
throw a tantrum and get three weeks hot and then we'll feel
really good again," she says laughing.
"That's a good point," starts Jules. "Every
band goes through a massive transformation.........."
