"We don't decide. The record company make the decision as to what is or what is not a single," explains Dougie. "For the album we give them 15 songs they format it, they decide what's A Sides, B Sides."
As artists though do you have a voice in releasing a single?
"We do but we choose not to," exclaims Dougie.
"Business and music are separate entities," states Neil. "We write songs as songs, we don't write them as a single or as B-Sides."
"Music is the business and never the twain should meet," laughs Dougie.
You're obviously more concerned with the music side of things. This must have allowed you to experience some wonderful personal achievements?
"Certainly it has," starts Andrew. "The last year been great. The T in the Park festival was one high point."
"The triumph in coming home," begins Dougie with a huge grin on his face. "It's like." He pauses and punches the air and shouts "Yes."
"The whole recording of the album was another," admits Andrew. "That was two brilliant weeks spent at a gorgeous place in New York towards the end of Christmas and it was snowing. We had a good time. No we had a great time."
"Playing Aberdeen with Oasis that was brilliant as hell," adds Dougie. "We've been through a lot of good stuff but it's hard to pin point one that is representative. We've had a lot of good moments."
How were you received in America?
"Very well, excellent, every night," explains Neil.
"We got a brilliant response from almost every audience which was really good," starts Dougie. "And they're a different audience because they don't drink as much and so there's not that many moshers. So they are more of a listeners audience which is very good. It was a good tour and an educational one."
Was America how you expected it to be?
"No we expected it to be bigger," admits Andrew. "We thought it was going to be like a tough month, like an endurance test for us in that we would really have to take care of ourselves, but it was such a great laugh." >>
