"Loads,"
she laughs before starting to roll them off with pace. "Do
a parachute jump, write an opera, go down the Niagara Falls
just to be crazy. I would really love to travel the world
and go and learn about stuff. Britain is quite a cosmopolitan
country but it’s not, there’s so much out there
and you need to go out and find it. I think everyone should
travel. It was such an eye opener for me at fifteen going
around Australia seeing Aborigines going around in their tribes.
It was absolutely brilliant, just great."
We make an effort to tempt Naomi into making it a top five.
"If I get fans," she announces. "If I ever
get a whole load of fans I’m going to hand out lollipops
to them, that’s my ambition."
We all try to compose ourselves and stop sniggering and aim
for a touch of seriousness. What’s the best advice Naomi’s
ever been given?
"I think it was from my granddad, it doesn’t mean
shit but he was an artist."
There’s a long pause, then an even longer one. We apologise
and admit thinking that was the advice.
"It doesn’t mean shit? No, but that’s cool,
that’ll do."
So to all those aspiring songwriters out there sitting in
their bedrooms strumming away……
"It doesn’t mean shit baby, but do it anyway ‘cause
it’s a laugh!"
